Centennial Park Planning Review

There's a group looking at the future of Centennial Park. They want you to tell them what you want from the park and how it could be improved. We want you to tell them to make it better for bikes. The car free days every month are great, lets have more of them. Why have cars there at all?

Let them know that you use the park, and when. Do you commute through it? Picnic in it? Ride round in there for amusement or exercise? Should they resurface it? Get rid of the cars and lets have cycling both directions around it.

Personally, I want them to get rid of the rule banning trikes, since right now I can get hit with a $200 fine for using the park. So can anyone in a racing wheelchair, or for that matter one of those three wheel jogging push chair things.

You can email them on info@cp.nsw.gov.au, their web site is www.cp.nsw.gov.au/research/consult.htm or ring them on 1800 550 050.

The Five Minute Activist

There are a few things you can do without a huge investment of time and energy. The Centennial Park review is just one of them.

Talk to the Premiers Road Safety Task Force. Call 131782, ask for them. Or email customer_service_centre@rta.nsw.gov.au Contributions should be marked 'attention Maragret/Virginia - Management Strategy Safety Task Force

We're doing another bike count, since the RTA still refuse. This will be a weekday at the end of March, details not yet finalised. Please email count@moz.net.nz if you're interested in helping.

Plan a Mass! Ok, it's an hour or two, but grab a map and think of a place to ride then post it to the list. See how you go.

What we do

Over Christmas a bunch of Massers got together and made 603 white crosses and set them up outside the War Memorial in Hyde Park. We held a press conference and got pretty good coverage. After we announced it the RTA immediately called their own conference, scheduled an hour before ours. That's what you saw in the media. We also wrote letters to the papers and the discussion still rages in the Telegraph. Coincidentally the Road Safety committee was announced shortly after that.
