The destination for the ride was officially Petersham, so that some of us could end up at the bush dance (a Green party fundraiser), via Reclaim the Night (not a Green Party event ;-) and Newtown (a nightspot). This is the first Mass after the winter (it was light at the start) and the one before our big event of the year - riding the harbour bridge.
(The yellow jackets are bike cops). We submit a "notice of intention" to commit an unusual behaviour, which if accepted gives us a bit of legal cover for things that are normally illegal (no bikes on the bridge normally). So about 50 people signed it (one is required) to spread the resnponsibility a bit. Otherwise the cops can land heavily on the one signee if anything at all does not comply with what they said we'd do. And has anyone ever seen a Mass go exactly to a previously published plan?
