Sydney March for Peace, Sunday March 23

A group met up in Victoria Park to march into Belmore Park and join the main march. Heading down Broadway into the city centre. Gay Greens against the War! Women in Black Again, there were a lot of jumped up baby dictators from the ALP running aruond giving orders. The down side of having the unions and ALP involved is this sort of nonsense. The official start of the march - Greens Senator Kerry Nettle on the left with the greens sign (I am so *not* biased about political parties). And that sign just about sums it up. Cheerleader bloc. "no war on Iraq - free Palestine now" Other people were also unhappy about the labour party trying to take over the coalition against the war. The green stickers say "self appointed marshall" (sic) Stiltwalker in kangaroo suit - the stilts are articulated and sprung so he can bounce, but I didn't manage to get a photo of him in the air.
