I got a new lens - the Sigma 18-50 f2.8. Same range as the Canon kit lens but faster, so it should work better at Critical Mass and other low-light situations. I was surprised at how much better it is - focus is much mroe likely to happen in low light with this lens. So the test run is me riding home from work today. Some of the photos are kind of neat.

Leaving Maquarie Place - looking west from Bridge St Back down Bridge St. Rush Hour... because no-one's moving very fast Into the side streets - especially important on the uphill bits. If riding while on the phone is bad, how awful is riding with a camera in hand? Overtaking on a bike... Note the bus inching out of the way ahead. And it looks as though I might be slightly on the wrong side of the double white lines. ooops. Leaving the Shity of Sydney and its abhorrence of bicycle faicilites for the Darling Harbour Bridge Authority, where they'll go out of their way to make sure we go the easy way rather than through the tourist zone. Although the city is changing slowly under Clover Moore. Pedestrians... #@#@!! pedestrians.... Ah, onto the nice wide slalom part of the Pyrmont Bridge I didn't stop to take any of these. That looks cool. Off the bridge and back on the road. Traffic queuing off the Darling Harbour "expressways" to get onto Old Pyrmont Bridge Road. Another queue, this time about to have a cyclist go through it. Looking towards Anzac Bridge from Old Bridge Road. Cyclist on the footpath (bah!) Going up to Glebe Pt Road we see a good? example of motorist roadblocking behaviour (these are stationary). Up Paramatta Rd, past McDeath and a bus lane all the way. Not many morons in it tonight. I pull right and merge with traffic when buses get behind me, even though it usually means stopping. Home!
