Welding bicycle tubing again |

Today I was back in the shed playing with the welder again. This time with slightly bigger tubes (38mm diameter instead of 16mm) and things went much better. The photos worked better too I think. I managed to get a reasonable melt pool going and not blow too many holes. The welds look better IMO but it still looks as though the penetration isn't right once I cut things up.I've joined the photos up so that you see both sides of each bit together. Today i also started reading and posting on WeldingWeb (again) and that seems like an excellent forum. Mostly people welding much thicker stuff than I do, but the advice is still good. So todays links are to Lincoln Electric on welding 4130 tube where it seems pretty simple with the tinfoil-thick tubing that I use (0.9mm wall), and a TAFE GTAW course that I found indirectly. Enrolment next week so I need to be quick if I want to sign up. day 1 day 3
